Welcome to lppacs.org – the online home of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School. Departments
Health Science and the Arts
Health Science and the Arts is an exciting major designed to offer students an in-depth exploration of careers within the health profession. This major extends learning beyond the classroom and provides a professional look into careers such as nursing, medicine, paramedics, firefighting, athletic training, nutrition coaching and athletic coaching. Students in this major will be expected to strive for excellence while being exposed to strong academic content and specific Health Science courses.
Literary Arts
The Literary Arts Department at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School develops the skills of young writers in a variety of disciplines and genres, including poetry, drama, fiction, screenwriting and creative nonfiction. Through intensive study of great works, essential concepts and best practices, as well as a diverse array of writing assignments, students hone their craft in a supportive and challenging environment.
Media Arts
The LPPACS Media Arts Department creates a learning environment through instruction and real-world hands-on application that will educate and challenge students to develop their talents beyond the traditional classroom in the design, production and finishing of media arts projects.
Music
Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School’s Music Department provides a comprehensive education to the aspiring young musician by setting high artistic standards while broadening musical horizons. Students gain the educational, social, and emotional foundation necessary to embark on successful, professional careers as artists.
Theatre
The Theatre Department serves a variety of students by including three different areas of study: Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Technical Theatre. Within each of these programs, students will learn about and practice theatre arts, developing skills in a working professional environment. Students will have the opportunity to be involved in Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center performances, which will help educate, inspire, and broaden their interests.

Enrollment Seminars for the next fall term begin in January. These seminars are open to all prospective students (grades 7-12) and their families. They offer a chance to tour the school, and talk with LPPACS teachers and administrators, so that all your questions can be answered.
Dates for upcoming Enrollment Seminars will be posted here when scheduled.
If you like what you see and hear at the Enrollment Seminar, you can sign up at the end of the evening for an Arts Evaluation. These evaluations are usually conducted within two to four weeks after you sign up. (You’ll need time to prepare!) And if you’re still undecided at the end of the Enrollment Seminar, you can also call to set up an evaluation time later.
You will need to choose one arts major in which to be evaluated. We know that many students are outstanding in more than one arts area, but students must choose the area in which they feel they’ll have the best chance of being successful. (There’s a practical reason for this – if we evaluated students in multiple arts areas, we’d never have time to do anything else.)
Each arts department conducts its own evaluations. They all have different requirements – for example, the music, theatre and dance evaluations are based largely on your performance at an evaluation, while literary arts and media evaluations are centered around a portfolio of your work – but every department scores candidates on a universal rubric.
This is the difficult part. There are always more students interested in attending LPPACS than there are spots available, and the number of students who want to attend increases every year. So it takes time for each department to evaluate its prospective students, and it also takes time for all the departments to decide how to apportion the available spots for new students.
Generally, all prospective new students are notified sometime in May whether they have been accepted to LPPACS for the fall term. We make every effort to give students and their families a timely response, but our first commitment is to insuring that every prospective student has a fair and thorough evaluation.
